Web cam control in PPT

Anyone know of a way to have a live video feed in powerpoint? Either via capture card or webcam? I've been tooling around with the idea of having a video conference with one of our missionaries overseas. I'd like to set up some sort of live video chat with them and our congregation and control some aspectsof it in powerpoint. Anyone know how?

In powerpoint, no. In Media Shout and other worship software, yes.

But honestly, you should try software that's designed for that, like Skype (I think) or NetMeeting.

NetMeeting would be much better for something like this.

While not strictly in PPT, It is pretty easy to move PPT out of the way for another application underneath. Several of the big name Instant Messanger clients support webcams.

I recently used Yahoo Messanger to send live webcam images to Brazil during a wedding. (The Brides family was still there and really didn't speak much English - Wedding was multilingual). We used a video camera with firewire out and took the sound from the soundboard.

This is really the opposite direction of what you want to do, but does show the possibilities.

There was also a free add-in called Transparent Show that was mentioned a while back. There was some experimentation for allowing it to key out a color and essentially show text over whatever was on the desktop - this might work for you - again not direct control from PPT but might allow you a better way to accomplish what you want.

I also just remembered Plays For Certainhttp://www.pfcmedia.com/ - which claims to support webcams. I have not tried it but it may work for you.

Also, I dont know if you have $$ but Polycom has some videoconference software called PVX that is really cool. It's about 150 bucks. Take a look at it. It allows you to conference and share files so you can have PPT running with your video in a small window

Web Chat

Hi Dave
Have you tried your web chat yet. I am setting up for the same thing. I am going to use a camcorder at the front of the sanctuary looking back for our missionary to see our congregation. Our missionary will be full screen on the overhead. I am going to try doing it on yahoo messenger. We will be talking thru the church sound system which is piped into the computer.
Has anybody tried this. Any ideas.
BTW, I think this is my first post.We have a small system in our church but everything is brand new. We are using easyworship.

Hmm. 30 bucks doesnt seem too bad. Has anyone tried it?? Does it work within Worship software (like for imported PPTs in MediaShout, etc.)??
