Web Design

Not being rude just offering honest opinion. Your blog is pretty hard on the eyes with your current design. It's not inviting but rather a bit confusing. Perhaps a lighter background, at least for the blog portion, would be a consideration.

Thanks! We accept any and all criticism.

Do you think lighter text would help?

Not Sure

I'm not sure. Looking at it again I think what confuses my eyes are three things:

Your blog title at the top is the same font/size/color as the post title right underneath of it. And then your first "read more" link is scrunched right on top of another blog title.

If I was trying to fix it the first thing I would try is maybe changing the color of the blog title to one of the logo colors, probably blue. Then I would change the post titles to be bold or something to make them stand out against the normal text.

I would also make all the greyish text stark white to contrast agains the black background.

However, I usually change things about 20 times until I get the right mixture. The object is to make everything look organized and distinguishable while still relaxing the eyes.

Of course, everyone has different tastes so do what works best for you.

Also, I would like you to blog about stage lighting. Seems we are constantly trying to find the right lighting solution for dramas. Our pastor ordered 12 LED par 64's for our Easter drama but I believe they were a lot dimmer than regular 64 cans.

What kind of lighting do you recommend for washing small portions of the stage in bright enough light to look good without lighting up the entire stage?

FWIW, I simply don't stay to read pages with light type on a dark background -- unless I really really need to. I mean really need to. Like looking for the phone number for 911! <G>

I had to force myself to look at the page for more than a few seconds - and I didn't absorb much content.

I can remember web designers deciding on the basis of wed stats in the mid 90s that light type on a dark background loses most visitors pretty quickly. I haven't seen anything since suggesting that has changed.

But maybe I've missed something.....

And, as an older guy, I had to magnify the page to 150%-175% to be able to read it.

Thanks guys. I can't do a light background because of the page design. But I will look at different font colors.

Ryan, to answer your question you are on the right path, but just not enough power. You need something in the 3W LED range. Hit me up at and we can discuss it.

I am in no way an expert but have to agree, it is hard to read, so much so that I did not. Can anybody suggest colors he could use?
