Taking pictures in service is always a bit intimidating, but I think the hints here are good ones. I guess I've always done the don't look at people and look like you're supposed to be there thing.
We tend to take pictures only during special events mainly - baptisms, dedications, etc. And generally (when we're organized) we try and give copies to the parents or baptizees (is that a word), which I think they appreciate. We try and take some inconspicuous pictures at other times.
Its very hard getting good pictures of people praying or praising without feeling somewhat intrusive, but a long lens can help with that.
