I don't use 'em but I think I might be one.
I actually found an old Nikon F1 (Not really sure) in a used dresser someone gave me. Doesn't work (I think it was kept in a damp basement) but my Single Studio light is an old (very old at least 20 years) Courtney Light. Still works, you trip the shutter the flash goes off and makes light. It was a cheap unit when it was new but it still works.

I've still got my Nikon N90 (and my FE may still be rattling around somewhere, though I think I freecycled that) and some slide film in the fridge. But I've learned to love the work flow of digital too much. Instant feedback on how well a shot worked is priceless. The saying used to go: "film is cheap...it's the processing that's expensive", and I don't mind not paying for the processing any more, either. But most everything on my photo website (www.designsinlight.com) is shot on slide film.

Gene,
That is some beautiful work! The depth and color is incredible!
I also noted you worked for Geoworks - I used there program way, way back when (on an old IBM 8088 processor). It was a nice piece of software very well done. I kind of miss it. I'm sure if I looked in my old stuff I might still find a copy on old 5" floppies.
Thanks for the link I enjoyed the pictures.

into antiques

Wow! Gene, those photos are wonderful! You said they were from slides.
Were you using kodachrome or ectochrome?

Ektachrome. I forget what the earlier stuff was on, but the later stuff was shot on Fuji Velvia and Kodak VS100.

I'm still refusing to give up my old Canon AE-1P. If I could find a decent digital camera that I could afford....and that wouldn't give up the ghost at the first sign of being dropped...I'd likely go digital.

But I just love the chunky "click" when the AE-1s shutter goes off.

Actually the Canon EOS line has some nice stuff (and will probably use your current lenses). The 40D is the newest out and (make sure you get the US Version) it has a magnisium frame so it will stand a drop as well as the old mechanical ones (don't ask me how I know).
The Rebel line is very similar to the D series except no magneisum frame (plastic only as the out of US cameras) and don't go to 3200 ISO. Depending on how much you shot it could pay for itself in no time.

I don't use antiques anymore, haha.

I am currently using a Canon 40D with a 30D as a backup.

I just got a Canon Rebel xti!! It's been a bit embarrassing in that I do professional digital video work but had to borrow my daughter's obviously inexpensive digital still camera on occasion when I needed to snap a still for a job. We've decided to keep the Canon AE1 for its novelty value. Of course, the lenses aren't compatible.

Gene - fabulous work!

Camera

I still have a K1000 just had it overhauled and it's as good as new... still takes awesome shots and I love using it.

I think I have had it since 1979-80...... some where in there.

Jeff

Antiques....sure I use a Nikon D200....it's more than 6 months old, so in the digital world, it's considered an antique

And by that measurement, my 2.5 year old D100 is an absolute antique!!

I do actually have an N90x sitting in a box because it just isn't worth it to sell it on ebay. It's hard to find someone who wants to give me $125 for it anymore, so I just sit on it. Funny thing though, my Nikon FE2 sold for over double what the N90X was worth. I miss that old FE2 and the metal body. Ahhh, progress right?
