Proclaim?

I got an email earlier about Proclaim Online, and that's the first I'd heard of this. It's being made by the Logos Bible software people, and I have to say it looks really nice from what I've seen in their short little video. I like that everybody can work on their presentation stuff "in the cloud" plus it would finally give me an excuse to say TO THE CLOUD at church

We're a Media Shout 4 church at the moment, but we've talked about Pro Presenter and now this shows up. Using the worship software to conduct live surveys is really neat, especially if you get the results in real time. It'd be neat to have a survey question at the start of the service and let people vote with their phones, and then have the pastor discuss the results during his sermon. Using an iPad as a prompter is pretty neat too. Wish there was more product info on their sparse website!

For our recovery ministry, some of our speakers "help out" by putting notes in ppt or all on a single word document. My biggest concern is that I'd spend so much time undoing what the speakers and worship leaders do that it would be counter-productive.

I like a lot of the features, but I'm also concerned that it will fee like it's written by programmers (like most worship software) and not by people who do this in a church (like Propresenter feels to me).

Hey Proclaim, let me test it and I'll give an honest assessment.

Paul

My first thought was "But I don't want my pastor creating slides!"

My second thought: "What if the internet goes down during or even before service?" (This has happened to us several times.)

It is an interesting idea and I am looking forward to seeing how it works, but it has a big hurdle to become the "ProPresenter killer" like everyone is saying on Twitter...

Yeah I don't know nearly enough about it to be touting it as the greatest thing ever. I have a feeling the vast majority of these tweets & such are about the giveaway they're doing. I "liked" them on Facebook, but that's it. The only other info I could glean from their Facebook page is that they're shooting for a Spring 2011 release. You'd think with something that close to release would have a better web presence than just a short video!

Software like VerseVIEW 5 (www.verseview.info) can schedule up scriptures and song lyrics for worship and can be controlled by any WIFI device such as iPhone, iPad, Android phone, Blackberry etc.. VerseVIEW is absolutely free.

Paul,
I'd love your honest feedback. Send me an email to Matt.Peterson@logos. com and I will set you up as an alpha tester. If anyone else is interested, let me know.

Fully Cloud-Based or Cloud and Client Based?

Hello,

I am really interested in Proclaim as well. My church is currently using EasyWorship, however, we are most likely moving to ProPresenter within a coupe years, or at the latest when our building gets done. I have been really impressed with what I've seen with ProPresenter.

However, the other day I got an email about Logos and Proclaim Presentation Software and I am interested in the idea. I watched the video and it definitely seems like an interesting concept. We are a portable church of around 500 people, and meet in 4 different locations throughout the week and it would definitely make sense to have multiple people able to login and make changes to the schedule anytime and anywhere.

I have a few concerns about the idea of a web-based cloud-based Presentation Software, however. First, is the software entirely cloud-based? At 3 of the 4 locations we meet at throughout the week, we do not have access to the Internet. Does Proclaim have to have an active connection to the Internet at all times in order to present? Or is it possible to make the schedule online and then export it and run a locally installed Proclaim software on a computer? Second, if the software is always run only from the online server, wouldnt this create lag whenever videos where played from it? I dont see this being an efficient playback method. Third, if the software is both server and client based, would you be able to edit schedules locally without having access to the Internet, if lets say you needed to make a last minute change on location?

Thanks to anyone who can answer my questions. As I said I am interested in Proclaim, I just have doubts about the cloud-based Software and Schedule.
