Just need one feature

I simply need one feature in presentation software and that is to use text over video. I come from a church that can't afford expensive presentation software and all we really want is that one feature. We're running a Windows 7 PC so easislides isn't functioning very well and I can't seem to find anything else without shelling out 300 bucks. Any suggestions?

Imports from songselect would be nice as well but it isn't necessary. Thanks for your time. :]

Have you tried the troubleshooting feature in Windows 7 to see if it will resolve the issues with Easislides. It is a very good free program

You might try, if necessary, running Easislides in a compatibility mode (most likely XP compatibility). That might resolve it. Otherwise, the best solutions I know of are the Big Three (or four, or however-many), which start out at about $400 from what I remember. I believe they all do have that feature, and many others, though with any computer-based text overlaying you're going to experience some video delay. I've heard that in recent versions, at least some of the vendors have reduced the delay, but if having any delay is an issue for you, you might have to investigate a hardware solution instead, which would cost more than $300 no matter how you do it.

SongShow Plus has a basic version for $299 that can put text over motion. But that's still out of his price range.

Have you checked the Easislides forum to see if they have any tips on running on Windows 7?

That brings up an excellent question, what kind of video do you need to key over? I interpreted it to mean live IMAG (i.e., television cameras). If it's just a video file or DVD, that's much easier.

If you're trying to do text over IMAG, trying to do it on ANY computer is just going to be a big bag of hurt. The only way that I have found to do it in an acceptable way is to use a hardware video keyer, either standalone or built into a hardware video switcher.

I was guessing that if they didn't have $300 for presentation software, then they didn't have a big enough church to need IMAG.

You would be right. We're not a very big church, so really we just need lyrics over a video loop during worship time. I've tried easislides in compatibility mode and troubleshooting it, but nothing seems to work. It could've been a perfect fit though.
