I am needing a software package to keep up with the church members name, address, birthdays who belongs to who and so on, all i am wanting is to be able to send birthday cards, thank you cards, we missed you this Sunday and general stuff like and to be able to add them to the weekly hand out so we don't miss anyones birthday its just been kept up with in a excel format but that is getting to big to keep up with.

The two big names I remember from ten years ago are ACS (Automated Church System) and Shelby. Both are probably overkill for your application -- they track attendance, giving I think, and so on, as well as printing attendance sheets, I think mailing labels, and other similar things.

How many members?

Our church uses Helpmate & it is pretty good.
THe youth use, youthtracker.net (the reason I asked for the # of members is because this program doesn't do very well for #'s over 500).
