visitor follow up

I am taking on some new duties at church - Hospitality - which will encompass many new ministries including following up with first-time worshippers (guests, visitors, whatever label you use). I want to send out hand-written postcards, and will be creating and printing them in house. The problem is I am drawing a blank for graphic ideas and verbage.

What does your church do to follow up with visitors? Do you do at-home visits...if so, how long after they come to church do you go see them at their house? When you visit, do you take them a gift?

We already have a "bread ministry" in place where we give people a loaf of bread when they worship with us for the first time. Our pastor also sends out a formal welcome letter. However, we also have a contemporary service - where I serve - and we would like to send something more modern than a formal letter.

Thanks for any suggestions you can share with me!

Laurie

I highly recommend a book called "Fusion" by Nelson Searcy.

We have visitors fill out a blue card, that is available in the pews. Then they can drop them by the visitor center, where they will receive a gift bag: a mug with the church logo, pen, pamphlets about the church, etc.

I don't think we do the bread thing anymore.

One suggestion would be:

"Thank you for visiting [YOUR CHURCH NAME]! It was a blessing and a privilege to have you here with us. We hope you enjoyed us as much as we enjoyed having you here. If you have any questions or if we may be of assistance in any way, feel free to call us at (XXX)-XXX-XXXX and we will do anything that we can to meet the needs in your life. Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you again soon!"

Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Pastor and First Lady [Their names here]
