Output Settings For Video Archive

hey there everybody.

looking for some info on how you guys export your video for the web and archive.

what we do right now is edit in iMovie, export 720p using quicktime @ 5,000kbps, h.264, then upload to our server & to vimeo. server copy is used for our video podcast.

our sunday morning sermons are about 35 minutes and they're always 1.5-1.9GB with those settings.

any tips on how to get those files smaller? is that the best i'm going to be able to do? i hate sending people files that size in the podcast.

let me know what you think.

For podcasting specifically, I usually sample down to 480x270, around 1,500kbps and poster frames every 300 frames. But if you're uploading your 720p videos to Vimeo, just check the box to have them automagically create a mobile version of the video for you and point your podcast URL to their mobilized version.
