| I think people are missing the bigger picture here. Apple doesn't have a very good track record with "professional products." Most that they have purchased or created they have killed off, or dumbed down in to a "consumer" product. FCP has been one long running exception, but now seems to have followed the same path. |

| They did well with it from only our stand point. I remember when it first came out and I got to watch it evolve over the years. Thing is, the support and overhead it takes Apple to compete with little companies like Avid, man they'd just simply rather not. That's easy to see if you look at it from their stand point. They have macs and gadgets to move. What they may not be looking close enough at is... the truth is many mac owners (and now iphone, iPad, ect owners) are a direct result of FCP because it was a mac only NLE. Perhaps they did look at this and decided it still wasn't worth the overhead. Either way, it's pretty obvious they are looking at bigger things than taking market share from companies that only dabble in this little spec of business. The video post world is pretty small compared to those going toe to toe with Microsoft. If FCX were to EVER be a contender in the modern post world, Apple is certainly smart enough to wait it out to make their move. They have boldy stated their intentions... and that's NOT to compete in this arena.

I suppose when Apple is on their third or fourth update of FCX, maybe we'll upgrade. Maybe not. ![]()

| I've got FCP1 through Final Cut Studio 2, as well as several flavors of iMovie so that I can capture live on whatever G4 or Intel Mac I've got available. Saves transfer from tape time. I guess when I can afford to update to an SSD or card based camera, I'll look to upgrade my software. |

| I'm in much the same boat but with supervised shoots and edit sessions. I still shoot on an FX! and still edit on an Avid Adrenaline system. Later this year will bring a 5D to the party complimented with an updated edit suite or two. I may just upgrade to Avid's latest but right now, I really think I'm gonna go for a nice all adobe suite. Strange that Premiere can now be an upgrade from Avid but I didn't make that call. Avid did. I was ready to pounce on a sweeet FCP8 suite but that wasn't in the cards. Glad I didn't make that jump last year.
