Question RGB to CMYK

When using power point images purchaed lets say from an awesome place like http://www.faithclipart.com/ are they made for RGB only (computer images), cause I want to use an image for a CMYK 170dpi Newspaper Ad for Christmas. In the past there was an issue with the color being kinda light and not as brilliant as I wanted, is that the reason??? I'm using RGB images???

When creating slides for projection I use PS CS4 800 pixels x 600 pixels, RGB 72pixels/inch and usually leave that at 8bit. (not sure how to use 1,8,16,32 bit feature)

When creating CD Labels I use PS CS4 4.5 x 4.5 inches, CMYK 300 pixels/inch and usually leave that at 8bit.

For the Christmas Ad I will use PS CS4 9.5 x 5.75 inches, CMYK 170pixels/inch and usually leave that at 8bit.

I found this post on my issue:

One of the best ways to convert RGB to CMYK is to go: Edit: Convert to Profile and make sure the 'intent' is relative colorimetric.

It will preview the conversion for you which should be minimal with this method. Depending on the image, you may just want to thicken the blacks up afterward.
