Creating AVCHD Files

Just got a new Plasma, and turns out it has an SD card slot in it. Its intended purpose was to use as part of sets and backdrops, so the SD card slot it a great surprise. Potentially will make life a lot easier.

The catch is that its pretty fussy about what sort of formats it will playback. The manual says it support playback of videos in MPEG2 and AVCHD formats. It doesn't elaborate at all on any details.......great.

So i've tried most types of MPEG2, and haven't had any luck at getting files to play, so now i'm heading down the AVCHD path. I've also tried all the common formats using FCP, Compressor, MPEGstream Clip, and Carbon Coder; but none of those programs include AVCHD as an output format.

Can anyone provide some insight into how I can create AVCHD files that the plasma will like. Any hints on what software will write those files would be much appreciated, or anyone with experience writing AVCHD files!

This page includes downloads for the de-coders to import AVCHD into FCP as well as the codec to make AVCHD from Compressor.

Hope it works for you.

Thanks. That looked very promising for a while there, but the plasma rejected the files again. Tried the 3 variations of the AVC-Intra codec, but it didn't like any of them.

This thing it driving my crazy. Has to be the fussiest media device i've ever used!
