FCE won't capture from deck to MBP

Hey guys, I have live video feed coming from the camera's into the video switcher then out to a JVC BR-HD50 DV deck then into 2.8Ghz MBP running FCE.

When I'm playing back video from the deck, it captures fine into FCE.
When I have the live feed coming in even if the deck is recording, it captures for 2 or 3 seconds then says "capture has reached end of tape..." , which it hasn't.

When I capture into FCP on Mac Pro via the same deck it works fine as long as I have in "non-controllable mode".

I can't find an option on FCE to let it run in "non-controllable mode"... this, I think, is what the problem is. Does anyone know how to select this mode?

I've tried all the settings... still nothing.

Any advice is appreciated as I would like to use this Easter morning live.

Thanks,
Steve

This setting (see attached pic) that I just found lets it capture wether or not the deck is recording! The only problem is that THERE IS NO WAY TO MAKE IT 16:9!!!

Anybody got an idea? or do I have to dish out 1K for FCP?

This is what I would like it to be on (see attached), but the control preset has it set so that it controls the deck.

Sounds weird, but with some tape devices you need to eject the tape transport and leave it open in order to record live into FCP. I guess if the tape transport is closed, it expects to record to the tape.
