The only thing I can tell you (not being an Avid user myself) is to export it as an MPG or AVI video first, and then go to an outside burner program (I use Nero for that). Then just burn it from there.

But saying that, I'm sure there is a way in Avid to burn directly. I just tend to find it easier to do a two-step system, going to an outside program to burn.

It should have come with some burning software, mine did, a roxio product if I recall, and also squeeze.

In my experience export as a Quicktime Reference file (really quick & small as it "references" the original media) then import the reference file to the roxio product and create the menus etc then burn.

I have found it works better though to go Avid-> Ref File-> Squeeze-> Roxio, the end result looks better.

I always use Aimersoft DVD Creator, it can easily convert all popular video formats (AVI, MP4, MPG, MPEG, 3GP, WMV, ASF, RM, RMVB, DAT, MOV, FLV, etc) to DVD and burn DVD movie played on portable and home DVD players, that's very good, you can check it out here for free:

There's an excellent resource at camcorderinfo called edit to the max, which uses the now unavailable freedv version of avid-

http://www.camcorderinfo.com/d/Colum...the%20Maxx.htm

it's 21 parts, and much of it should track with the full version of avid (not sure if it would apply directly to something like liquid though, for instance).

Interestingly, though, no where in the tutorial does it seem to reference burning directly to dvd.

Which version of avid are you on?

Not an avid guy much either, though I do have the free dv version, I tend to use Premiere Elements, which does have direct to dvd burning capabilities.

If feasible, I'd also suggest rendering to dvd through nero. You might want to export each chapter as a separate file, though, to make it easier to do chapter headings et al, though nero can certainly do that-it just takes time.

Post #4 smells like spam because of the postcount of the user. I may be mistaken.

I had read it roughly the same time as the person reporting it, and wondered myself...

held off to see if they ever posted anything else...obviously not so far, any way.

That wasn't directed at you, but one of the posts that pushed a particular product. Always glad to have you on board!

Your workflow for a DVD from Avid is:

Export a Quicktime reference file.
Open this is Sorenson Squeeze. Select one of the DVD presets and modify if you need to. Squeeze to a DVD-compliant MPEG-2 file.

Bring the MPEG-2 file into your preferred burning software and make your DVD.

You cannot render an MPEG-2 file directly from Avid software (except perhaps Liquid). XPress Pro, Media Composer, etc. are strictly editing applications.

Hope this helps!

I don't ever do this - I'm not a fan of physical media... but, my Dad is. I just got him set up using Appgeeker DVD Creator, and he loves it. It's about as simple as it gets... drag file, click burn, done.
