| Codec Problem Hi I don't know if anyone can help me but I have just downloaded the K Lite basic codec to enable me to use Mpeg 4 videos in my Easy Worship program. Got the codec to work in that it will play in preview mode but when I go live I just get a black screen. Does anyone have any suggestions please. Do I also need to download the K Lite codec on the church laptop as well to get Mpeg4 to work. At present just have it on my home pc. |

| Unfortunately, converting files will sometime allow losses of quality. Because EW works with Windows Media Player, you might try playing the file outside of EW just thru Windows Media Player. If it works thru there, the pack installed correctly. If not, then you will have to check your settings again. Easier is to uninstall and to look at this. It sounds like the options that were selected in the installation of the KLite Pack might have been skewed a bit. Did you follow everything to the T off of EW's website? Beyond that, I never had good success with mp4 or mov until I rechecked by settings. Before that, I just left them alone. If this doesn't resolve it you might ask for support off the EW website. |

| I remember a while back a bit of a flame war starting over a situation similar to this (well, it was this plus some form of Mac/PC debate...). Anyway, the two basic schools of thought went like this: 1.) do whatever is reasonably possible to get the widest range of video formats playable through your software. Logic: The message is more important than the technical details. 2.) Make a list of formats that are consistently compatible and that meet your quality standards, then insist that video submissions adhere to them. Logic: Incompatible, unreliable formats often lead to problems during playback, thus detracting from the message the video is attempting to convey. I'm personally in the #2 camp, and MP4 is not on my list of acceptable formats at this time, because I have yet to get it to consistently play back on our setup. Until that changes, it is known to those in charge that MP4 is an unacceptable format. I have gotten some heat from it, but I am fortunate to have those in charge ultimately agree that it's for the greater good. Joey Last edited by voyager529; Monday, February 8th, 2010 at 03:04 PM.
