You can go "Wondershare DVD Creator for Mac".

Easy to burn video to DVD and customize your own Menus.

Search in google.

We use Encore, but I have found the learning curve to be quite steep. I love iDVD on the Mac, I can burn a quick draft DVD at any time (with no menus) with just a couple mouse clicks.

Since I started to do everything in Full HD format, I had to change tools. Magix (which I recommended earlier) wasn't so stable with full-hd, as it is really heavy load work for computer and application.

So, after careful analysis I started with Sony Vegas, which is really brilliant for editing, and you can buy a bundle in which there is also DVD menu creator application called "DVD Architect Pro 5.0". That's nice product, and has great integration to editing software Vegas Pro.

In our church, we use web as the main "distribution channel", but increasingly we also do DVD's (or blu-ray discs). It has been surprising, that many of the major editing softwares do not include required codecs and features to render videos to h.254 & mp4 -format, which is the most recommended format for web Sony does this well, so this package covers both needs in our case.

If there are anybody who is curious to have a look to our website, feel free to look at it, including our first videos in web. Ok, the menus are in Finnish, but e.g. following link inludes a speech of our guest from US (starting
at 2:48 from the beginning of the video...):

FYI, Encore CS3 and CS4 can do Blu-Ray discs and include the h.254 andthe mp4 codecs. Just an FYI...

I'm also going to give Vegas a try - I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do, and comparing it to the Adobe Creative Suite which I use now.

well, adobe encore is a very good tool for making dvd menus, and quite easy to use as well.
Personally, i use sony DVD architect, which requires a decent amount of experience to use, but it gives you absolute control over the entire structure of that DVD. and if you already use sony porducts like I do, they work together somewhat amazingly.
i suppose in the end both are good products, and it just comes down to how much you are willing to spend, and how much you know about the topic.

Okay, so this thread has been silent for awhile, and I'm sure the OP has found his/her answer by now, but I'll still throw in my two cents.

I notice lots of people recommending Adobe Encore, and I heartily agree. Personally, I use Encore in conjunction with Photoshop for designing and editing the menus, and then After Effects for creating custom animations into the menus and between. It's a bit of a tedious process to figure out how exactly to lay it all out the first time, but once you figure it out, you'll never want to go back to the iDVD-style "drag and drop" menus.

Andrew Kramer on VideoCopilot.net actually has a pretty good tutorial about using After Effects with Encore to create animated DVD menus. Also VideoCopilot.net is just plain awesome in every other way too.

I use Sony Vegas with DVD Architect. Creation of the graphics I use a free program called GIMP. (gimp.org) Adobe products are good as well.

I try to stay away from the "canned" themes or templates just to add variety.

free dvd menu templates

I tryed several programs to create my own menu's in the main menu i want a link to each seperate eps.

Tryed the following programs:
- NeroVision Express
- DVD lab
- DVD Slideshow Builder
- Unlead DVD Workshop

- Nero Vision didn't life up to my expectations, can't creat any menu you want only the one's you can select from the tamplates.

- DVD lab looks a profesional tool, but wasn't even abaile to import .avi files so didn't go on with that one.

-DVD Slideshow Builder, easy to use with professional features and same sort of layout as Movie Maker however a lot more powerful. Both static and motion DVD menu templates are available.

- Unlead DVD Workshop looked prommising almost finished my menu, cut change almost everything including place of the links to the eps. But the disapointing thing is it wants te re-encode the eps and needs alot of diskspace (40GB+) don't know why but that's just crazy. Well DVD Workshop looked most promising good features and almost everything could be edited in the menu's.
