That's cool. Not only no CVLI needed (wingclips.com says they've already negotiated the rights), but the clips are organized by topic. Much easier to search for things that way, rather than trying to remember "what was that movie where..." and much easier to download then renting the DVD.

Looks like a fantastic resource, but I'm having trouble understanding how they every get permission to do this. Especially for the free clips -- I don't see why any movie studio would ever allow this unless they are getting profit off of it somehow.

Free advertising. The clips are basically movie trailers (right down to the green MPAA ratings screen) like are shown in theaters, at the beginning of DVDs, etc. Even if they're not first-run movies, they're very likely on DVD, and they still make money from that.
