Looking For A Professional Grade Head-set Mic
Any Recomendations? Been Using E-6 But Very Difficult To Eq, Too Much Of That Hollow Sound Compared To My Other Vocal Mics.

Several people here use these over the E6.

if you are looking for something that will work great for music performance, try a crown cm 311. It is big and bulky, but will sound good compared to your handheld mics. For stuff where you are not having to compare it to handhealds, the DPA is the stuff.

If money is not an option the dpa 4088 is my fav for discrete and beautiful sound. If looks are not a problem Shure's beta 54 is very nice then probably the Crown cm 311. If price is an option and looks not try akg's c420 or Countryman's isomax headset it comes in cardioid or hyper and they have a more flat sound as compared to the e6's tin sound. Of course their is also the option of a really good 3 or 5 band fully parametric.

If you are getting a hollow sound when using an E6 then something is wrong. I am not picking on you I have had a system sound that way when it is over EQed. It meant I had gotten carried away with the EQ. I have heard great things about the DPA and they better be great based on the price. But I have used the E6 and gotten great results.

So my questions to you would be what is the signal chain? What wireless system, mixer, where are you eqing the E6, etc.? What speaker system and where are the E6 users in relation to the speakers? Are you trying to put them back thru monitors? What does the EQ for the E6 look like (how is it set)?

I am assuming that you have E6 Omnis and that you are comparing them to some sort of hand held cardioid vocal mic.

How is the E6 being used? For speech, singing, drama, how many at a time?

Assuming that you are looking for speech purposes (even Countryman doesn’t recommend the E6 for music) another option is the new Audio-Technica Microset they are cheaper and some (including me) say they sound better.

look at the Shure Beta 53 and 54 also the Sennheiser hs2 and hs4 and there hsp2 and hap4, we just demoed the at mic and it is cumbersome to fit like the e6 but once fit it well much more comfortable.

Even though the mic was original designed for speech I have also heard Carl Countryman speaking about it as a good overall vocal microphone is gaining more and more acceptance on stage and musicals. I have used them in many applications from stage to church and had great luck with them with the possible exception of very small children (they tend to be to long) or someone who is very large and cannot get a good placement. I prefer the flat pod cap (which ends up very flat and not proximity). Have you tried using either the bright or very bright cap?
