Need help with new multi-mic wireless system.

Howdy fellow Christ followers,

Need direction in purchasing a multi-mic wireless system for our small place of worship.

We previously had a lower end Sennheiser system that i think got fried by an electrical surge of some sorts ( to be honest I have no clue, it just no longer works and is out of Warranty) so it's time go replace.

What we are wanting is something that can be used primary for sermons, and then two additional wireless handhelds for solos or duets each week. The pastors mic was a headset and that if it can be reused with the upcoming system, that would be ideal as our budget isn't too great. (Sub 1k if possible?)

I don't have the Sennheiser in front of me so I can't tell you the model number, but the bodypack and transmitter still work, its just the receiver that is dead.

Thank you in advance.

Could be just your wall wart died(aka power supply). It would be a shame to replace a system if that is the only issue.

Honestly i would use as little wireless as possible unless it's...
A. The pastor and a lapel or headset mic is needed
B. Your performers do flips on stage
C. People run up and down the isles

Wires are so much better than wireless and you can get a heck of a better mic for the money you would burn on wireless. Granted everything has an exception and in some cases people want wireless mics because they have always been told they need wireless.

Gracetech: Thanks for the chuckle on B and C.
We occasionally do plays as well, so they would utilized in those situations as well. I will check the power supply thing before dumping it, thank you for that recommendation.

Ok , tried the new all wart and no dice. Box comes on (as it did before) but screen just flickers non-stop and won't work. The unit is a EW100 g2. I could pick up another similar unit on ebay for 100 bucks shipped.

I think the G2 is a fairly reliable unit and if you could send it off to Sennheiser for a check

You might be able to get it repaired and use it for the youth or children's church.

Does your Sennheiser mic run on legal frequencies as in not 700MHz band? If they are legal I would try to get fixed. If you buy on Ebay be sure the frequency range of the receiver is the same as your transmitter. Those cheap ones might be ones that are no longer legal.

If you need something new I just tested our first Line 6 mics today. You can read about it HERE.

I have 8 of these EW100 G2 and had one do the exact same thing. I recommend sending it in for repair. For $70 they will fix whatever is going on (mine had to have the main board replaced) even if it's out if warranty. I think it took about a week and a half to get mine back. Been using it for a year and a half now with no problems.
