Mic Peaking

Our lead singer will peak the mic every now and then but he is not peaking the board. The level is well below the yellow and red. I have had trouble fixing this. I am assuming its just not a good enough mic to handle it and the only way to fix this is to either get him to pull the mic away/sing softer, or get a better quality mic. Anyone have another solution?

It's a Senn EW300 G2 wireless handheld running through compression.

Thanks,
Eric

What mic element is on the transmitter, and have you adjusted the gain/trim on the transmitter itself?

Looked at the specs. The transmitter pack (if it was a lavalier, etc) has a sensitivity setting but I'm not sure if the wireless handheld has a similar setting.

The handheld should have a sensitivity setting just like the bodypacks per the manual.

I'd just drop it all the way to -30 with it being a vocal mic.

Yep.

Just pulled mine out of the box and had a scan along the settings and "sensitivity" is there for the hand held.
