Blue Snowball USB Mic

Hi... just curios... has anyone actually used the Blue Microphone Snowball USB Mic? Thinking of using this for podcasting/V.O. purposes and was curious if anyone here has successfully used it.

Yes, I have

Bought one a few years back. It worked great and had wonderful overall response levels across the spectrum. However I upgraded to Vista and they didn't have drivers for that OS. I switched to a M-Audio USB mic and it is just as good with better support.

I did see this post recently that might also provide a solution:

My worship pastor uses one. It works fine, sound quality is just o.k. It has a bit of a noise floor (hiss) so you need to keep a decent sound level going in to it to overcome that.

We recorded the same vocal dub on the snowball and then moved to the Blue Dragonfly ($800 mic) and the difference in quality was immediately obvious. But I guess that stands to reason given the cost difference.

Cool... thanks for the feedback guys... My primary desire for this mic is as stated Voice Overs n such but I also like the flexibility i'd have for times when the Pastor would want to do recordings and I am not available with the regular Podcast rig. Just ordered a unit so am anxious to put it through the paces.-Al
