Thank you so much for your response. That's the kind of answers I've been looking for. I was wondering about using ellipsoidals instead of par's but the cost is what scared me. The screen was in that position when I started there. Might be something we need to look at. Since I sit in the very back I never noticed it being so high. The lighting you use for the front of the stage that are gelled, what colors are you using?
I am very sorry that your post on gym lighting got derailed so badly. I am a volunteer that only does lighting part-time, so I am not an expeft with all the answers, but we meet in a gym also; so I hope my experiences/thoughts are relevant and can help.
I've used 6 ETC S4 par64's as indirect lighting in our gym. It's underwhelming as house lighting but as effect lighting with red gels they add variety to our light cues.
We have 18 other par 64's for front lighting, 10 of those are gelled. I am constantly frustrated with the oval smudge of light that the 26 degree lens on the ETC par64 produces (I get to focus the lights every other Sunday), which is why I recommend looking into ellipsoidal fixtures for front lighting if possible.
One area that we are trying to improve in our services is the angle of the projected words, particularly for those in the front rows. I think lowering the projection screen would be very beneficial to folks in front during your services. I was wondering when I saw your set: why is your screen so high?
We wash with color from the rear with only 2 LED fixtures at the moment, but we will be adding more soon. The gel lights on the front light bar are used infrequently except for chases during very high energy sections of songs. We have these fixtures mounted on top of vertical pieces of truss. We have used these fixtures from the front and side do to space constraints, but I think they look much better when we can put them in a rear position.
The ellipsoidal fixtures and the LED's would likely be very usable in your new building when that happens, so I don't feel like you would be squandering resources if you invested in these fixtures now.
I hope this helps,

Where did you get the D30E.ZIP?
Do you know who developed it?
Might you have a link?
I have implemented my own solution and had a few questions about the zoom position.
