    Hey mike,
We currently use a NSI MC7016 with the DMX option to control traditional fixtures via dimmer packs (No LED's or movers). We run it in the mode that gives us individual channel control on the top row of faders and 16 "scenes" on the bottom row. It is now dying slowly (the faders are starting to not work). I have received mixed feedback on changing to a computer based system like chamsys magicq.

Everyone likes that it would be more expandable if we add stuff in the future and probably cheaper, but they are concerned it will be hard to learn for folks that don't use it each week but need lights on stage for a wedding or some other event.

Do you have any thoughts on this and what would be the best traditional board for 16 channels of DMX dimmers that isn't junk and would work in a church application? (We don't want to buy it just to replace it again in two years, and need to be able to set up "scenes" and fade between them as we move through the service)

This is what I want to do,led strip lights just remember that this will be for automotive use (non ricer haha).

I have two led strips.LED Light Bars One white and one red. I want to have one of them on and one off. When a voltage, coming from another source, flexible led strip comes in I want it to turn of the lit one and light up the second strip.

Is there like a relay or something that will allow me to do this?

    Mike,
Peterit suggested that I ask you about the HDMI over Ethernet Baluns that you would recommend. We are a small church with a very small budget. Can you recommend the cheapest way to run HDMI ~ 100-150 Ft. Thanks!

    Mike,
That's okay. It gets like that around here also. What do I do to fix it? Do I have to replace the sockets or can I clean them somehow. If so, what's the best way to go about it? Thanks for your help.

    Hey Mike,
I was wondering if you could give me some advice. We have 8 Elation Opti Par ETL fixtures and I have had nothing but serious problems trying to change the bulbs in them. Have you ever experienced this? I have checked and double checked to make certain I'm using the right size bulb. A lighting guy that has helped us out a little with upgrading a little even said he couldn't figure out what the problem is. The bulbs just won't go in all the way. It's soooo aggravating. I now have three of the eight out (not good). I realize you're a professional and you have better things to do but if you know of past experiences with these aggravating fixtures and know of a solution please let me know.
By the way, love your designs. I've been keeping up with you on Facebook.

    Thank you!!!

A few moths back you mentioned that you had some LED movers from Elation that were equal to a 575W. I've got about $20,000 to get some movers and a console and was wanting to go with LED's for the energy savings. Would you mind sharing the model of those Elations? Also do you know much about the Chamsys consoles? Good, bad, price, etc?

    Thanks so much!

    Mike,

I'm looking into buying some LED strip lights to create a wash on our back curtain. While browsing through the message boards here it seems you have quite a bit of insight/experience with this; as well as the ability to sell. Do you have any suggestions?

This link leads to a jpg of a recent concert we had; I used 6 MR16 mini strips to achieve the effect. They were an item I had borrowed to show our staff what a purchase like this could look like. This would be the effect I'm going for.

    Thanks!

Hey man. I am really a light and camera guy; but I have being running land setting up live sound for three years now. Can you give me any ideas on where to start classes in live sound engineering? I live in Asheville NC and can't travel far. I have a full time job, a wife and four kids.

    Thanks.

Hey I was looking at your post in the stage design thread and was wondering what you used for you backdrop screens. Is that lighting effect or are you running video on those? What kind of material is on the backdrops (the lower 'wall' directly behind musicians)?
Any help would be much appreciated.
