Mediashout 3.5 keeps changing powerpoint viewer setting

I am using MS 3.5 at my church(short on $ to upgrade right now). The problem is this: I go to the settings, change the playback engine to Powerpoint viewer 97, and every time i re-open MS it changes the playback engine back to Powerpoint 2007. I can't simply uninstall Powerpoint 2007 to solve the problem because i need it to open, edit, and convert(to 97 compat) for use in MS.

This is extremely annoying. It also causes a problem when others not familiar with the settings try to use MS for ppt presentations because, as everyone knows, MS does not play nice with ppt newer than viewer 97. The volunteers know how to load and show their presentations but that's about it.

Any suggestions?

Actually, MS3.5 plays quite well with PPT2000 or PPT2003 in my experience. Have you tried reinstalling the '97 viewer?

The problem may be with your system in that the .ppt extension is registered to the PPT2007 application and not the viewer. Reinstalling it should change it back or perhaps give you the choice (been a while since I reinstalled the viewer).
