MS 2.5 slow to acess song database

I love MS (we have been using it for 5~6yrs) and talk it up all the time, but last week, something happened. As I loaded lyrics on Sunday morning, MS was taking a very long time (2-3min.) to bring in lyrics from the song database. Every other type of media is loading and playing fine - no delays. But loading or firing lyric cues is unworkably slow.

Steps already taken with no resolution:

Virus and Malware scans
Check song database for corruption (default db is slow also)
Reinstall MediaShout (2.5.5 build 260)
Uninstall Windows XP updates from the past 2 weeks

I am really at a loss here. If anyone has an idea what the problem might be, I would be most appreciative...

Couple of questions that may be important.
Machine specifications.
Available HD space on startup volume.

And, more importantly, welcome to the forums.

If you have a backup copy of the db you may want to uninstall and reinstall the database.

You could try a system restore to a checkpoint before the issue started.

I know there is a utility in version 3 to repair the database; but I'm not sure if that exists in version 2; but it sounds like you tried a different database also. When you say the "default" database, do you mean the original database that came on the V2 disc?

I haven't used 2.5 since V3 came out (4 years ago?); so, I'm afraid my V2.5 troubleshooting skills are minimal

Yes the Song.mdb on the install disk is also slow.

This of course leads me to believe that the problem lies in my machine (hardware or OS). Does anyone know the method that MS uses to access the song database. This is high on my suspicion list as all other MS functions (Bible, video, text) all run fine.
