Need a glow, picture of God for Child's Musical

The children's choir at church is presenting a musical and need two pictures one of Jesus (which I have found) and one of God. The director, would like a glowing shape that is a representative of God. So If anyone can help point me in the right directions, I would appreciate it. I have Photoshop and PE4 so I can work with what ever is suggested.

Thanks.....Pam

Here's one way:

You can just put a glow layer effect around any object --- separate the layer effect into its own layer (I'm not sure if PSE can do that, but the full version of PS can) --- and delete the layer with the object. Then you would just be left with a glow.

What shape do you want to make glow?

How about this, then:
  1. Create or open your background layer
  2. Add new a layer with the object
  3. Add a glow to that object
  4. Select the object (without the glow)
  5. Go back to your background layer and make a copy of the selection
  6. Add a new layer on top of everything and paste it

That should make the object "invisible" while keeping the glow.... ????

Or....
  • Select the object.
  • Go to Select -> Modify -> Frame and choose a frame of 10 pixels or so.
  • Create a new layer
  • Fill the selection with white (or preferred color).
  • Make original layer invisible.
  • On the new layer, play with Gaussian blur and transparency until you get the look you are looking for.

I think a pulsating glow would give a better effect! You could create that in PSE as an animated gif, and then layer it behind whatever object you are using for God in PowerPoint.

Sorry so late in replying, was traveling for Thanksgiving (son is at Fort Hood in TX.), back now. I will give all these a try. I appreciate the quick response and will let you all know how it went. I think I will make the shape kind of roundish, and I like the suggestion of animateing the gif, so I will give that a try. I'm glad that there are so many talented people that are willing to share. Thanks

Pam

Thanks for all the help, I made an animated gif and imported to PE4 and added a fast blur in and out with a zoom and it really looks good. I have to refine it a little, maybe add the Gaussian blur too (I have a week to do that) and it should work out well. Thanks for all your help.
