Happy New Year, Florida!

Hope everyone is getting off to a great start for the new year here in Florida. We've got lots of new stuff going on here in Florida CMN-we've got the
2009 CMN Convention
right here in
Orlando,
June 16-20!!!

Wahoo!

Thought we should get together a couple of times between no and then, as we're sure to need some help both in planning outings and for staffing, et al, along with help in picking up fellow CMN'ers as they get to town.

We're even having a couple of invaders from down under in Australia coming this year!

Besides that, we should also continue to have little mini-seminars on various topics, including lighting, live switching, how/when to switch slides during worship, etc...

So, chime in with details as to what's best for all of you, meeting day/time wise, for the end of this month for the first meeting, and we'll also chat about when would be best for setting up our second and third meetings of the year.

Be thinking about what we could do/recommend for outings for those coming early or staying late-

Good food near to the convention site

family day outing location

Touristy things for the families to do during the day while we're at the convention

A tour or two of something tech related...(A new church media install, backstage at one of the theme parks, Digital Juice studio tour, etc...)

The powers that be here at CMN will of course make all the final calls as to what's what, but local input is always a great idea!

Looking forward to hearing from everyone this year, and seeing all of you again real soon!!!!

Bob

orlando toll robbers

Being in Orlando this past week for a conference, I loved everything except for the toll roads around the city. You can't travel east or west without running into those "put your hands up and empty your pockets" type roads. I even made the mistake of getting on one without any change in my pockets, when i got off at my exit, there was only an exact change lane, which would not take my folded money. All I could do is become a criminal and sheepishly pull along. So i am wondering if I come to the convention, whether there will be a warrant out for my arrest.

Seriously, Bob, what do you do in that kind of situation.

...send the money in later with an explantion. Really, for one or two it shouldn't be a huge deal, lol

Also, if we're at/near where they're talking about using, there shouldn't be any tolls between the convention center, church, and any hotel we pick as the main hotel. In fact, save for too/from the airport and/or the space center, there's not a lot of reason to use a toll road this time around, unless you're visiting family et al.

Once you learn the secret of getting around without paying tolls, you're considered a native. Everyone else is a tourist or is rich enough to by the SunPass.

midnight oil in Orlando

Bob and Steve,

One other Orlando thing, it looks like Shenadoah Baptist Church in Orlando is looking at bringing in Len and Jason from Midnight Oil to do a two day seminar next fall. (most likely the end of October or first of November). It would be great to have church media types to help get word out in the Central Florida area.

Sounds great - I really want to come.

We need to get a bus and take a group trip to Skycraft, Ikea, and The Holy Land Experience.

It will be a party.

Thanks for hosting the event - I will try to see if any of my volunteer folks from church want to come down for the event.
