Ozarks Area CMN Chapter

OK, so having to haul myself all the way over to Farmington, MO this coming Friday (which is not a bad thing, and I'm glad to do it) has prompted me to finally get off my duff and start organizing a local CMN chapter that's a bit more closer to home. So...

I grabbed a map and drew what I supposed to be a 2-3 hour radius around Branson/Springfield. If you err on the 2 hour side of things you get primarily southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. On the perimeter of that radius would be: Joplin, Stockton, Lebanon, Houston and West Plains in Missouri. Melbourne, Mountain View, Clinton and Clarksville in Arkansas. And Jay and Miami in Oklahoma.

Expand it out a bit to the 3 hour range and you pick up extreme northeast Oklahoma and southeast Kansas. Which now goes as far as Butler, Clinton, Versailles, Rolla & Van Buren, MO; Pocahontas, Searcy, Conway, Booneville & Greenwood, AR; Salisaw, Muskogee, Wagner & Nowata, OK; and Coffeyville, Erie & Mound City, KS.

Those in the Tulsa, Little Rock and Jefferson City regions are welcome as well, but I think that's pushing the "local" boundaries a bit.

Given the above, a quick search of all CMN members in those areas shows some nearly 70 users. Of those, around 30 have actually visited the CMN site in the last couple of months.

From that, I think there are enough people to warrant an effort at getting together sometime over the next several months.

Well, at least a couple of years. If at all possible I would love to be a part of this and would do all I can to help promote, attend, organize, etc.

Whoa, Nelly!

This was out loud thinking, and, yes, we will do something relatively soon. I'd love to meet pre-conference III.

Let me get this coming Friday out of the way first. And I just started my "summer" job yesterday and am waiting for a more solid schedule as to which days I'll be working.

I'm going to hit my immediate area even harder and try to interest more churches in joining CMN, and develop a local, local group as well.

I've already talked to Len & Jason from Midnight Oil about coming here for a day "sometime". And I'd love to get Phil down here for an "Elements" day too!

And as some of you have caught on to, I want to capitalize on our Branson tourism to make the journey more appealing to you media types and your families as well. Guess that means I'll have to call in a few favors and see if I can garner some passes, mondo discounts, etc.

Anyway... keep talking this up, and see if we can't get some of our stragglers to become more active online as well.

I'd love to attend this sort of meeting. We could easily host it in Springfield at Schweitzer. Not sure whether Springfield or Branson would be best, it would depend on who is attending.

Branson?? Geezzz, offer me fun family things to do, shows, dinners and you think I can be talked into going to Branson? Um...well, your right. ha ha Interested in a worship band/leader to kind of "open" the event? That would be a great way to display some of the combined tech talent in a "real world" setting. Just a thought. I am a worship leader as well as tech/creative arts kind of guy and I have a great band as well. Let me know what you think.

Is there an Ozarks chapter? Audio for Video question. Near Springfield & would love to meet with such a group.

Sideline question for now: I do video production - considering the Sennheiser ME66 boom mic. Would anyone happen to have this model that I might rent (or bring my equipment to your site to do some quick tests)? My schedule's very flexible. Get best buys online, so I don't feel right about having local reps bring in demo models when I know I won't be buying from them.
