| Interesting. Many of the manufacturers in the world of video surveillance have been working on developing standards for interface between IP video devices... Check out the Open Network Video Interface Forum (ONVIF) HERE. or Check out the Physical Security Interoperability Alliance (PSIA) HERE. Both are working to develop standards... but my feeling is that eventually manufacturers of video cameras and server software will likely just support both standards. It would seem to make sense moving forward to look for compatibility with one or both of these... so that in future it is relatively easy to upgrade systems and maintain existing hardware if possible. My $0.25
