| Hey guys, the conversation has strayed a bit, but I just wanted to confirm what Tony wrote to wrap up the thread topic: a GoDaddy tech told me tonight that since 8 users are sitting on one box, they have a limit of 30-35 outgoing emails per minute; if exceeded, it drops it to 10 per minute for 6 hours, then if still exceeded, they shut down smtp on the server til you call in.
I complained that the guy who sold me the Virtual Dedicater Server for GoDaddy led me to believe that I had unlimited outgoing email capability. The tech apologized but that's all I got out of them.
Up to this point I had had a real positive experience with GoDaddy. I understand their limitation, too, because without it we'd hog the pipe from the other users, so I don't blame GoDaddy as a company so much as that one salesguy.
We're probably going to go with a Ded Server with GoDaddy since they can give us a seamless transition and we need to deal with Christmas stuff still.
Tony has been really great helping me figure this stuff out, not just on this thread but through extended ichatting (AIM for all of you peecee types). So thanks tons Tony. The server options you mentioned sound good, but we're letting inertia rule here since overall the service at GoDaddy is fine and we can't afford to go offline right now. |
