| newscast So we have been experimenting with how to do newscasts in our church for the last year or so...it normally just didn't work b/c even tho I am full time, I just didn't have enough time to do it. This morning it came to me that I could do a great one with just keynote and garage band.
First you read your script into garage band. Then I just slapped the music on it and saved the song and read as an .mp3 on the desktop.
Then I made the slides in keynote. You can see from my attachment I animated the first 2, then said, Its 2pm on saturday and practice starts in an hour, so I dumped all the rest of the animation.
Anyway here is the trick...go into the document part of the inspector and go to audio. Drag in your prerecorded audio from garageband into the soundtrack area. Then Hit record at the bottom of the track. From here, just listen to the audio and advance the pictures.
Then save the whole thing as a movie. If you play it back in real time it won't work very well...just have some faith and export it as a movie. It records your internal mic, so you will want to save it without recorded audio. The first pass I did before I thought of garage band I just used the recording, but it was 2 hard with the music and such later.
And that's it! Import into your favorite program and show in church.
Here is the sample of what I did...I figure that I could kick out one of these in less then an hour every week...maybe 2 hours if I am struggling with the graphics, but keynote makes the creation really snappy.
We are using this every week from now on after song service...then they immediately take up the offering. We figure this is saving us about 5 min a service, and is much more informative. If you have any questions on procedure let me know.
This workflow would also make for great fast slideshows and videos, etc.. |
