wheeled keyboard stand

I have been searching for a wheeled keyboard stand for an electric keyboard. Right now we are using an ultimate stand, and we LOVE it! BUT we have a bigger stage now and we want to be able to wheel the keyboard up front periodically during the service, but then move it.

I could build a platform, but that is awkward..Is there a nice modern stand that has wheels? I really need something like this yesterday. Any suggestions? My google kung-fu is not strong enough to find one...

My only desire for it, is that you can play it sitting or standing and that it is open and not a big box. I love how the ultimate stand is just one pole and the worship leader is essentially still exposed and not hiding behind a big box / podium...

Which of the Ultimate stands are you using now? If you can't find something ready made, it may be possible to buy some wheels at Home Depot / Lowe's / where ever, drill some holes, and convert your existing stand. You want to be sure to by locking wheels (i.e., ones that have a tab or button you push down with your foot to stop the wheel from rolling) or your keyboard player would quickly be finding out which way the stage sloped. But I bought some nice lockable wheels for <$10 each at my local home improvement place for a movable recording station, and they're soft so they won't mar floors if they skid like hard plastic ones can.

Googling around, the only wheeled solutions I found were add-ons for various models.

thanks for the tip. It looks like http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...and?sku=450087 this stand won the battle, as it is the only modern stand I can find with wheels

I will have to see if I can get the 2nd tear taken off of that thing, and I have to make sure it is tall enough has well....

I don't know if it takes the wheels or not as well (but looks drillable even if it's not designed for them), but the Z-14 has a single tier (and one less horizontal brace).

Keyboard

Hello new to this.
But I couldnt help checking on this thread.
About a year ago our worship pastor asked me to help him with the same problem,to be able to move about without any interruption.
this may be a solution if anyone is interested

A rolling stand that keeps you totally wireless with all of the neccessory items, mic, music stand, power, thats right not even a power cord to get in the way.

I know a company that custom makes carts but you have to supply the stand. The one they made for us is pretty simple and I could have built the thing pretty easily as it's just a wooden cart with the stand bolted to it. The boom mic stand is built into it as well. They do make them with built in power, DI, whatever you need/want. Each one is a custom job, but IMHO they over charge, but the quality of work is extremely good, will probably last as long or longer than the keyboard. They also make custom road cases. PM me if you want contact info.

As a note I do not work for this company nor get any kick backs from them, but it is run by a friend of mine.

Another solution (for the benefit of the other readers) is to purchase a set of ordinary casters that you would normally bolt to the bottom of a dolly or furniture. Use U-brackets to secure it to the bottom legs of the stand. You might need to cut a piece of PVC in half the long way in order to fill in the gap and paint it black but this works well also.

brenthomer,

i would really like to see what you bought. I am a kb player and don't know of any commercial stands that have this capability. As a player I would want something like a brake to stop and set the stand down on the floor after the move.

GBU,
Pete

I took some pictures, but I don't have my iphone cable with me - BUT i went thru my receipts and I can show you via links.

We bought this keyboard stand from fullcompass
http://www.fullcompass.com/product/329179.html

And the caster kit is not shown on the site, but they sold me a Z-stand castor kit for a few bucks. The catch was we had to drill out the holes in the bottom of the stand, but it only took a few minutes. You will probably have to call full-compass to see if they can still supply the stuff....Here is what my email showed for the quote...
