Videoguru,

Despite the discouraging meeting continue to treat the finance pastor, the rest of the staff and your work there with honor. God will also honor you for doing so (Romans 2:7, 1 Samuel 2:30).

Commit yourself to pray for other doors to open (I know you must be), but also commit yourself to continue to do the best job you can while still balancing all your current personal, future marital and professional responsibilities.

To paraphrase the book of James chapter 5: “Therefore be patient, Videoguru, as you will need to do until the coming of the Lord. Look at how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it to be fed by rain and grow. Videoguru, be patient like the farmer. Establish this in your heart, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Do not grumble against anyone, even those that treat you poorly, or you’ll be condemned. Remeber the Judge is standing right at the door! Take the prophets as examples. They spoke in the name of the Lord, and yet were examples of suffering and patience. We count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and have seen how in the end the Lord is very compassionate and merciful. Above all, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your "Yes" be "Yes," and your "No," "No," or you will fall into judgment.

Videoguru, are you suffering? Pray.”

I'll be praying for you too.

I normally don't read or even post on these forums too much, but this has stirred me to respond. It breaks my heart to see the way our modern-day church treats their staff and volunteers, overworking and underpaying, this is happening all across our nation. After having been on staff and volunteering in churches for nearly 20 years, my very first thought after reading through this is..."The worker deserves his wages." 1 Tim. 5:18
It is not unreasonable for you to expect a fair wage based on what others get paid in your area for your church size and responsibilities. Be prayerful through the process and God will direct you through it, if you are faithful and do what is right, then He will open a door for you somewhere else.
We have a business doing AV work for churches and I know that if you are willing to relocate, there are a lot of churches out there looking for good, knowledgeable media tech/video persons. Be a student of what you feel called to, always learning and growing in it and opportunities will come.
