A Career Re-start

Hello All -

I really appreciate the information on this site. I am a female and worked at a church in the media department. I am looking to get back into media ministry.

How would I do this and what is the best way to gain more training if needed?

Welcome aboard!

Media Ministry is a broad subject. What have you done in the past? What would you like to be aiming for? Sound, lights, video, graphics, production, live.

The best way to get training is to go out on the road and get it hands on.

Share more information with us, sis. Tell us about your technical background. What is the vision you have for your future? Do you sense God is placing a particular call on your life? If so, can you describe what it looks like?

Hey lady! Do you mean media ministry as in volunteer... or employed in media ministry? Some churches support professional quality media ministries with first-rate training for volunteers, but watch the culture, most can't afford that luxury or may be biased toward roles in which they will actually place women - particularly against video & audio. Women seem to get pegged into working with slides and print. Just sayin.' Watch the "culture" where you're looking to settle in.

Yes, need more sense of your desired direction for training suggestions otherwise.

Re-start

Thanks everyone for the responses! What great questions!

So for a little background...

Growing up I loved Oprah and thought I wanted to be her but I didn't really follow this direction until later so to speak. One day I woke up and said I want to be a reporter so I went to the big school and got my degree in Broadcast news. I LOVED the program! We got a broad based education from writing, editing, lighting and producing.

Where i ended up was volunteering at my local church helping with easy worship and PowerPoint. Then they offered me a job so I worked there editing short videos and editing the major broadcast for the church I attend as well as working during the services on Easy Worship. I loved working there but family issues lead me to resign.

My skills are basically editing videos and running folsom. As far as my calling, I still desire my own show teaching and giving, but I love ALL aspects of TV. However, I am willing to serve in any capacity until that time comes.

Long post but I hope this helps.
