| Curious Ok, so short intro on me. I'm 21 years old been running sound since the 8th grade on an analog 16 channel Alesis board... piece of junk lol. I now run sound for the contemporary service at our church (2nd of 3) and occasionally for the other 2 traditional service, for special events such as easter and christmas musicals and just to fill in. I am going on the college mission trip with the purpose of making a video and I run sound for concerts the college choir puts on for fundraisers. As a Broadcasting student I have experience with cameras and videoing (is that a word) the services. Our church is growing very fast and is currently under construction of a new 1100 seat facility. I am hoping that the new auditorium and programs that will go on will require the hiring of an audio visual technician, a position I would defiantly apply for. My concern is that I will be graduating soon and the position most likely be part time. This will not work well for me trying to support a family. If this position is only part time or not offered at all, I will be looking for other opportunities to serve in this capacity. Does anybody have any ideas on where I could find job listings to apply for a position like this? Thank you in advance for any help MCBWY |

| Once in a while, there are job postings here as well as http://churchsoundcheck.com/job.html. Trouble usually is, if a church is hiring a full time AV director, one of the pre-requisite requirements is a degree in that field. I too have a similar position at my church, technical director, but it's unpaid. Though I have 10+ years experience in the field, am highly respected among southern-gospel circles and regional theatre as FOH and Monitor engineer as well as 10+ years in design/build, paying gigs in my neck of the woods are few and far between, if existent at all. Best of luck, and welcome aboard. |

| Soundman89, You may want to look at: http://www.churchstaffing.com/job-li...ia-technology/ http://www.churchjobs.net/cgi-pub/search.php?q=tech http://www.christianjobs.com/ If you google “church job” I am sure that many others will pop up. If you really want to get on staff at the church you are currently helping at as a volunteer I would have three suggestions. (1) Make yourself indispensible. Do the jobs no one else wants to do, and do them to the best of your ability. (2) Tell someone in leadership that if a job opening ever came up you would be interested in serving full-time. Don’t assume that because you are already doing X, Y and Z that leadership will assume you are interested. Make sure they know. (3) If it doesn’t work out the way you hope trust that God has something better for you.

| Thank you very much Thank you for your help. I have spoken with the music minister about this before. So he does know I would like to serve in that position if it ever came open. I will continue to search for where God wants me to serve. He has given me the talents and an ear to do sound for a reason, and I will serve wherever he puts me. |
