I was thinking it's a bad fixture as well. But if it was a bad fixture wouldn't the calibration be off all the time. This is a random thing that's occuring. Maybe 4 times out 10 times that I have the system on.

Sensors and encoders would tend to be intermittent. If a bit of dust gets in the sensor light path, the electronics will count more or fewer pulses of light than are actually there. It only knows where the light is by counting pulses (which are relative to where it last thought it was). If it didn't cal properly because there's dust in there (and therefore too many or too few pulses), it thinks it's in the right place but in reality it's not.

Open them up, clean them out.
