Chauvet Stage Designer 50 problems

As some of you know I have ordered a ton of lights for our church over the past month, and have had some problems here and there. Well I have another problem with the Chauvet Stage Designer 50. We are trying to connect one Intimidator 1.0 to the Chauvet Stage Designer 50 through DMX. The manual that came with the controller was not user friendly at all. When we connect the Scanner to the controller we were only able to control the Light coming on and the paning and tilting from the buttons below the faders, nothing else. It seemed that the faders did nothing at all to interact with the scanner. We could not change the gobos nor the color, and the when we pressed the buttons the panning and tilting would only go one way. I know the faders are working because when you move them they show which value they are in the LED screen. I have the scanner set to DMX Channel 1 and connected through a DMX cable to the controller. On the back of the controller there is a Polarity Selector which does not mean anything to me at all. We have tried switching it both ways and get different functions from the scanner. I just dont know If i have something set wrong on the controller.

Thanks,
Cody

Just taking a guess here but from what I can tell in the first picture, all the DIP switches except for #1 appear to be ON. This would result in a starting address of 511 instead of 1. If this is the case, reverse the order of the switches and it should work.

All of the dip switches are set to off except for #1. Just take a closer look...

I have bad news for you. The Chauvet Stage Designer is a dimmer controller it is not meant to be used with moving fixtures. I believe it has a total of 48 dmx channels.

Question Please assist

Hi All
Big shout out all the way from Cape Town South Africa

Can you please assist. Im new to lighting etc.. but learning fast.
We recently bought 6 Chauvet LEDRain 64C and the Chauvet Stage Designer 50

I managed to link all the lights together and sent it to the desk with a 3pin XLR cable. At the moment i only got 3 channels working, the RGB on channel 1 2 and 3. How do i get the strobe and flashing and the rest of the functions working?

Thanks
Warren

Warren,

You most likely have the units set to run in 3 channel mode. There is a dip switch setting on the light to set it to 7 channel mode.

4. Operating Instructions

7-CH DIP switches 11-12 = Off

3-CH DIP switch 11 = On
