New IMAG System

Here's my situation....currently I have 2 Canon XH-A1's and an Edirol V-440HD. It's good for the occasional IMAG on special occasions, but not something I want to use on a regular basis.

We've decided to start doing IMAG full-time and I'm turning to the experts here for help. We'll have services in two separate worship areas running simultaneously, but both rooms need to have full IMAG capabilities and the ability to send the feed to the other opposite worship area. The preacher will rotate between the two rooms weekly so each room will need to be able to send and receive the IMAG signal...hope this makes sense!

So, let's build an IMAG system from the ground up! We'll be running ProPresenter on a MacPro using the Blackmagic card for graphics and lower third stuff...everything else is fair game. I'd like cameras with iris & gain I can control from the booth and an HD-SDI switcher with DSK and a Multiview output, but I'm open to your suggestions.

I'd love to say there's no budget, but I can't...however I'm outfitting two rooms! Do you guys think I could do this for around $100K?

I'm asking for someone to spec out a system, just point in the right direction!

Thanks!

Jason

I think you can do it, but it is going to be tight. Give Church Solutions Group a call. This is what they do well, and they are fairly local to you.

What is your distance from camera placement to subject placement on stage?

I just did a full IMag upgrade with 3 tripods and cameras and a HDSDI switcher for less than 25k. It just happened that the camera 20x lens worked out for what we were doing. The system is HDSDI all the way through to capture. It would be nice to do full 1080/30P but the switcher is low end and doesn't support it. The wild thing is i'm not using any genlock and i loose less frames then the previous system that was. Because the switcher is being feed SDI signal there are no blips like their use to be on cheap TBC switchers.

Church Solutions....that's the name I couldn't remember, they're out of Chicago so, yes they're pretty close...thanks!

The budget really can be more, the 100K was a fairly random number, it could easily be $150 if needed. In room #1 the distance is about 45ft, in room #2 it's much closer, probably 25ft.

Which cameras & switcher did you go with, if you don't mind me asking? I'm putting a system together and I'd like to know what others have done and how they like it

We're getting ready to drop the dime on a Ross Crossover 16. Sounds like it'd work great for your application too. I've also seen good comments on the Panasonic AV-HS450N.

I am still a Grass Valley man when your budget can handle it.

I like the looks of the Kayak DD1, but it doesn't look like it has multiview out...which for our little video room is probably a must have
