inexpensive ptz control

I recently installed an easy and inexpensive control for my two Sony IMAG cameras. This comprises the PTZ controller from Serial Port Tools, its associated Gamepad plugin and a Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller.
This works just fine and is better than the software from Sony, and is a lot cheaper than the Sony BRM joystick!

Do you have some video of it in action?

Have you used the same cameras with the Sony controller? I'd be interested to hear more detail about how the two approaches compare in terms of ease of use, functionality, accuracy and response, etc. and where this approach may or may not be appropriate.

ptz controller

Hi, Brad, I have not compared it with the Sony controller as I cannot afford the latter. However for the simple work we do (basic headshots etc) it seems to work just fine.
Esoteric, I will try and shoot some video of it in action.

Hi Saul,

I'd love to see some video examples of the PTZ functionality as well to get an idea of how smooth it is.

BTW, what model of the Sony cameras are you using this with... Are they EVI-D70s?

Thanks,

Frank.
