Here is an interesting turn of events... A week ago I was battling the audio delay problem for live front of house IMAG audio / video sync... now I find myself asking a question about purposely delaying the audio for recording sake

We are going to have to continue making DVD's for the church members that aren't Blu-Ray ready... so for this we are going to import the video via HD-SDI from our mixer through a Black Magic Multibridge Pro into an Apple MacPro. The Audio is going to come directly from our Yamaha M7CL32 mixer... left / right XLR. I was wondering what hardware to buy to delay the sound from the mixer to ensure it is 100% in sync with the video from the HD-SDI mixer.

We are using an Aja GEN10 to genlock the video between our 4 HD cameras and 1 HD mixer.

Thanks in advance, I love this site

We've been recording via a Blackmagic Card to a Mac Pro and have some audio sync issues. We however are not genlocked. Video that goes to the screens is not out of sync, just the recording feed. It's pretty frustrating.

We are gonna test with a rented KiPro pretty soon to figure out if it's a Mac Pro/Blackmagic issue or a switcher genlock issue. Depending on your workflow, I might recommend a kipro as it may be more consistent. Or, just make sure you don't skimp on the computer recording equipment (fast comp, expensive input card, etc).

Doesn't the M7CL have delays on every output? I only ask because the LS9 does have this feature. You can even select the delay units in msec or feet. On the LS9 this feature is located on omni out configuration popup.

The M7CL does delay outputs...but I wanted a dedicated hardware option so that we can error proof it. We are also looking at splitting the audio with some ART S8 XLR splitters and having a pair of Yamaha O1V Digital mixers to control the video recording sound... as it is should be independant of the live front of house sound that our M7CL is mixing. I dont think the O1V's delay sound ... therefore to error proof and future proof the system I was looking for suggestions for a dedicated audio delay hardware solution.

Thanks for the feedback I will look AD22S ... any other suggestions? Anything tailored towards HD vs SD? Thanks!

I must disagree that adding any piece of hardware makes anything more "error proof" but I understand what you mean. Personally I try to reduce device count when ever it is practical.

By the way the 01V does have internal programmable delays as well.
