Is there any computer in-between camera and projectors?

What kind of signal are you taking from the camera head?

The reason the Anycast is creating video delay is because the unit has internal frame synchronizers to deal with non-genlockable equipment (or a system set-up which is not using genlock).

In this respect the small Panasonic switchers operate in the same manner (although there may be a way to turn off the frame syncs on the Panasonics, I am not sure).

The ultimate answer is to use a switcher which does not use internal frame synchronizers and genlock and time all sources at the switcher. Depending on what equipment you have available and skill set, this may involve a waveform monitor and a video engineer.

Aside from this the next major culprit for video delay are any up, down, cross conversion which may be going on upstream of the projectors.

if eight inputs is enough the panasonic is nice for the money. for a bit more you can get the new for-a multi format switcher that expands to 12 inputs. i like the broadcast pix solution as well since it has the same frame delays as the panasonic etc. that are multi-format plus you get playback and graphics included. they offer the multiview as a touchscreen too, works nice. upgrading to syncable cams will help too.

What kind of signal is on the BNC-terminated line(s)? BNC is only the type of connector on the cable and doesn't tell us a thing about either the kind of cable or the signal on the cable. One of my switchers uses a pair of coaxial lines (with BNCs) for RS-423 front-panel communication. It's also common in radio.

I can only see having a full half-second of frame delay if you're running SDI out of the head, especially unsynchronized. Frame syncs will cost you about a frame each, but a half-second is 15 frames.

Another possibility -- are things in time on your program monitors? The delay could be in your projectors.

I'm using the Panasonic AV-HS400a and it works great. Not the same as the 300, but I love it. You can get input cards for DVI/VGA, composite, component and SDI. Up to 8 inputs, built in multiviewer, frame sync on all inputs, the input cards have scalers built in for SD to HD conversion, output cards for DVI/VGA, component, SDI also with scalers, AUX output, 1 Key (chroma, luma, full), 1 DSK (luma, full), PnP, 3D warp transitions and a flying Key. I know I sound like an ad, but hey, It's a great box!

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I should throw in my $.02 since we're using a Panasonic AV-300G switcher for IMAG. Here's my complete chain:

JVC GY-HD110U camera
Component cable out
BlackMagic component-to-SDI converter
100' SDI cable
Panasonic switch
100' SDI cable
AJA SDI-to-HDMI converter
2' HDMI cable
Hitachi UXGA Projector

Through all of those conversions, there is only a barely perceptible delay. I'll guess maybe 3 frames. I use it for IMAG every service. Works great!

Thanks for sharing your setup petereit ... I am starting to think the camera has a lot to do with the lag issue... I have a similar setup as yours but using a Canon XH-G1 camera with HD-SDI out and GENLOCK and have a noticible delay its not 1/2 a second like Trevoremoran stated he is having with his H1 but it is a good 1/5 of a second which is just enough to upset the viewers.

I am going to try different cameras... and will post my setup once it works.

Regards
