Ipads in church....

I am not an Apple guy, I have a member of my worship team who has an Ipad, but can't seem to find the laptop at the churches IP address. I suspect that it's not connecting to the proper WIFI device. How would I check that they are connected to the right Internet device, so I can make sure the two devices can talk to each other.

If you're just trying to find the IP address of the ipad. Go to the device >>> Click Settings >>> Click Wi-Fi >>> You'll see the network it's connected to...click the blue arrow >>> That should bring you up to the IP address of the ipad.

What laptop? You said he has an iPad. What is he trying to do, connect to the internet or what?

We have a WIFI connection, there is software (OpenLP) running on the church laptop, when I run the remote server on OpenLP it tells me something like this:

Stageview: http://192.168.2.10:4316/stage

I should be able to point the iPad to that address and have it come up. I can't find the server, so I suspect that her iPad is actually connecting to a different WIFI hub in the area and that is why it's not working.

On the iPad go Settings -> Wi-Fi and under the "Choose a network..." make sure they have connected to your network where the 192.168.2.10 computer is.

Have them install "Fing" from the iTunes store (free) It will scan your network and enumerate every device. I love this tool! Anyway, if it sees the x.x.2.10 computer then you should be able to open Safari (iPads web browser) and type in h-t-t-p://192.168.2.10:4316/stage

If that fails maybe have them download and install Chrome for iPad also from the itunes store (free) and try the URL on there.
