iMac vs MacPro

I am in the market for another Mac to do our recording, editing, and dvd authoring. Anyone have a strong opinion and reasons for paying more for a MacPro to do this? Other than more than one FireWire port and the ability to upgrade hardware when needed, are there other reasons to pay the extra for a MacPro?

Thanks,
Eric

Since, according to your other thread, you're not looking at working with HD for a few years, a 27" with the i5 processor would do you good.

Buy a Mac Pro if you need:
-Lots of storage at SATA speeds (if FW800 or USB is enough, then iMac will do)
-To run external devices other than USB or Firewire (Such as a Decklink Video card, or a Pro Tools interface etc)
-Need to run more than two monitors, (multiple graphics card supported in Mac Pro)
-Need some sort of crazy amount of CPU power or ram

If you answer yes to any of those questions, then a Mac Pro is probably what you need, if not, go for the iMac. I recently upgraded my computer, and went from an iMac to a Mac Pro, because I wanted to use a Decklink video card in a few situations. When I looked at the prices, I found I could get a older Mac Pro, with comparable specs (or better actually) used, for what it would cost me to get an iMac. But like I said, if you don't need the things listed above, the iMac is what you want.
