Computer Help with MPEG streamclip

Need some help converting files. Here is what I got and what I would like to have.
First off, I exported a Pinnacle Studio 12 based file using Pinnacle to a MPEG2
1440 x 1080i at 29.97 f/s with 48k muxed audio( I used this because it gave me the best quality video options) The video was shot in HDV 1920 x 1080i at 60f/s 48k audio. If your not familiar with Pinnacle they do some weird things with video files.

I am going to use FCP 6 so I would like the video to be in a pre-rendered format to save editing time. These files are going to be used to create a Bible Institute series for DVD. God has really opened the door for us on this project because we already have a translator for another language lined up.

.........So here is what I was trying to do. Using MPEG streamclip export these mpeg2 files into H.264 (I believe is a pre-rendered format with the audio separate) what setting should I use to preserve the highest quality in the "movie Exporter" screen in Mpeg Streamclip. I tried 1440x10880i scaled and unscaled in 30, 29.97 and 60 f/s but I keep getting "Drive out of space" error- there's 400+GB open.

??Am I doing something wrong or is there a better format for what I want to do??
Should I use H.263? Any help, will be a time saver. I ONLY got 117 hrs of video to convert like this.

Well, I might have solved my own problem. I'm trying using pro-res422, a test file worked. Trying a Batch conversion.

I believe now my error "disk full" was due to the destination drive either sleeping or not in Mac extended disk format but was windows fat32 oops! Still learning Macs. I wish FIND IT had the bay # in the "get info" screen. Not having a drive letter like windows has me confused where i'm putting stuff.

I'm confused. Why bring it through Pinnacle if you want to edit it in FCP? Why wouldn't you log & capture the HDV original straight into FCP Prores 422?

At the time budget didn't and still doesn't allow for us to use anything but Pinnacle. We needed to reuse the tapes so they were captured using what we had- Gasp! Pinnacle.
I purchased a MAC pro desktop and a copy of FCP 6 after the fact on my own. Had I known what a pain it would have caused... Oh well, I glory in my sufferings.

Ah. Gotcha.

OK, then the best thing you can do is take all your footage, drag it into Compressor and convert it all to Prores422. From then on, it should be smooth sailing in FCP.
