Mac Notebook Catches Suspects In Laptop Theft

I've got two words for this: sa-weet!

Mac Notebook Catches Suspects In Laptop Theft
Quote:
A burglary victim helped police catch suspected thieves by logging on to her Mac remotely and snapping photos with its Webcam.

This reminds me of the time when one of the teenagers in our church stole a car and then drove it around town every day as if he owned it. Of course the cops spotted the stolen car and he was surprised that he got caught.

Not that I condone the actions of the theives but I would think that anyone would feel uncomfortable with a webcam staring them in the face. And I figure that if you committed a theft and wanted to get away with it, I would think that no thief in their right mind wants a camera or anything resembling a camera to be pointed at their face.

Why didn't they ditch the equipment at a pawn shop or hide it somewhere while it "cooled off"? But then again, in a city of 8 million people, finding stolen property is like finding a needle in a haystack and that is how they managed to get all of the other loot.

The camera is so small they probably didn't know what it was.

I got lojack for my macbook pro. I have add too many things stolen from me. My macbook pro isn't going to be one of them. My friend recently had a knife put to him by a thief and they took his wallet and ipod. It's pretty sad really.
