| I've used Adobe Premier, Pinnacle, and Sony Vegas to edit AVCHD...Sony Vegas was the smoothest and best to use for my needs. Of course this is subject to a lot of variables...but for the simple editing I do Vegas worked great! No need to convert, uses less resources, and runs smoother than Premier. Probably best choice for editing AVCHD with a laptop or a less powerful computer imo. Save yourself a lot of frustration and money...if your looking for an editor download the free trial versions and see which one you like.

| You will want to convert it using a program like mpeg stream clip. Unless you are using premiere AVCHD is so compressed that the computer will lag when trying to decode it. Apple proRes is the easiest to edit in. I find avchd to be more of a final format than a format to edit it in. |
