Going to widescreen

Our church has just purchased a new screen and projector for our sanctuary. What size "canvas" should I be using in photoshop (PSE 5) to compensate for this change in size? Also, is there an "easy" way to convert older graphics made in 1024 x 768 to this larger size without having to edit each one - specifically the announcements and song files? We did just purchase Easy Worship, but I have not had a chance to work with it yet.

There's an easy way, but it's not good. You can just have them stretch. most abstracts will be ok, but any no-abstracted elements on the graphic won't look right.

The canvas size you should use is whatever the native resolution of your new projector is.

I did a conference with 16:9 screens and just edited my backgrounds as I needed them. A little creative / controlled stretching in the right places made them look a lot better than just letting them stretch by themselves.
