Specs for CS5

I finally made the plunge and purchased Photoshop CS5! Actually it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. My son is a student and my wife is a teacher. I got the education discount ($199 and free overnight FedEx shipping) because my son is a photographer and needed it also. So, I did it the honest way.

Here's my question. Can you PS CS5 users who use a PC please tell me what the specs are on your computer? Are you running 64bit? How much RAM? What graphics card? What problems will I run into by running it on a 32bit system? I can't upgrade my card anymore. It's maxed out for my computer.

I'm running
Pentium Dual Core 2.4GHz 32bit
4G RAM
Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT

I get an error message when I open PS saying my video card isn't good enough and the GPU features have been turned off.

Supported video cards

Adobe tested the following video cards were before the release of Photoshop CS5. This document lists the video card by series. The minimum amount of RAM supported on video cards for Photoshop CS5 is 128 MB. 256 MB of RAM is recommended.
Note: Adobe tested laptop and desktop versions of the following cards. Be sure to download the latest driver for your specific model. (Laptop and desktop versions have slightly different names.)
Nvidia GeForce
7000, 8000, 9000, 100, 200, 400 series

This is from Adobe's website. Your system is definitely gutsy enough to run it. high end productivity. I have a system very similar only difference I'm running Windows 7. No issues at all. I get some lag with huge composites but that's to be expected. I'm also rendering in very high resolutions. I would suggest updating your video drivers on your video card from NVidia. General rule of thumb I check their site monthly as they can update drivers frequently. I hope this helps.

Blessings,

Gary

Hoping someone can help

Hi

I am really sorry if this is on the wrong thread I cant seem to find the correct place to post this message... Not too great with computers... Anyway I am hoping someone out the can help me, I need to make a banner 100cm by 150cm... I have just managed to get my head around the basics of photoshop, but the problem I am having is the resolution for my banner, I have created the small version of the banner already, but I have heard though the grape vine that in order to have a good resolution for the banner I need 300dpi my photos I want to use for this banner are only 97 dpi, is there a way I can somehow improve the resolution on photoshop... Also the photos will not be covering the whole banner they will only be at the bottom of the banner, will this make a diffrence...
Anyway I would appreciate any advice you may have... Oh and as I mentioned I am not that great with computer, photoshop and pixel or pdi termanology, so please can you explane in the simplest of terms...
Thanks
