I dont' know of a way to do that in Powerpoint.

That is one of the advanages of worship software, assuming they have the version available that you need.

There is also an freeware application called VerseView that you may be able to switch to that will display verses on the screen. I've not used it, only read about it a bit.

FWIW: If your projector has a freeze mode:

Include a "go-to graphic" in the ppt show
When needed, go to that slide
Freeze the slide in the projector
Edit the ppt as needed
go to the new slide
unfreeze the projector.

Not exactly "quickly."

Re scroll - your on your own....

I've never had good luck editing and showing a powerpoint at the same time.

I would take a look at screenview and see if it can do what you want.

One thing I learned a long time ago, Internet connections are one of those things, where the chances of it being up when you need it, are inversely proportional to the need of it being up. During a live session, like a service, you just know that will be when someone plugs the coffee maker into the wrong outlet and trips the breaker for the router, and yes it will be your fault.

What I did with PPT, was go to a site like biblegateway.com, copy the text I needed, then paste it in and reformat it to fit the look and feel of the service.

Then I switched to Worship software (OpenLP) and now it's simply select the passage and hit add to service, the software then formats it, according to the instructions I gave the software when I set it up. Instead of 20 minutes formatting it for PPT, it's less then 5 seconds and done.

EasyWorship, MediaShout, ProPresenter and SongShow Plus are the main players in the commercial Worship Software market. All of them have fans here. I use SongShow Plus myself, so I can't help you.

If you are ready to go to worship software, you won't regret it. But it's worth the time to look at all 4 and try to figure out which is the best fit for your church.

Is there anything particular you'd like to know? I'm sure you'll get some voices on here soon.

With Easyworship, if you have purchased your bible translation from them, download it and it shows up as a tab at the bottom of the scripture tab. Select it and your translation is set. As far as scheduling it, you can find your verse and drag it up into the schedule. This works for successive verses too... if you schedule the first verse you want to use, the program will switch to the scripture tab automatically and you can double click the next verse and go live with it. Unless you schedule your verses and edit them for readability, sometimes it looks wordy on the screen though. With different verses (ie. John 3:17, Romans 5:8, Genesis 1:26) you can select those verses, drag each of them up into the schedule. If you don't want to schedule the verses, you can do it on the fly by typing in the reference, double click and it goes live in seconds. If you are looking into worship software though, EasyWorship definitely has PowerPoint integration as well so if you want to format your scripture differently or if there is a speaker who comes in with a show then that can be imported pretty quickly. That help?

I like EasyWorship because I self taught myself about 90% of the program on a typical Sunday morning usage level. Tips and tricks came from here. For volunteers it makes for an easy transition from PowerPoint. It's intuitive, it looks great on the screen and while it doesn't have all the bells and whistles that MediaShout of ProPresenter has it just plain works. You will run across some people who bash them now because they haven't put out a new product since 2009, but that's not to say that version is broken. They have been actively working toward a new interface for PC and Mac, right now they are only PC platform.

Thanks for your great comments. I think I have decided on the OpenLP program for our application. It looks similar to EasyWorship and it's a free download.
