| Reaching Up, Reaching In, Reaching Out My brother's church has adopted "Reaching Up, Reaching In, Reaching Out" as a mission statement. Does anyone have ideas about a graphic that might represent this? He's looking for something that could be used from business cards to banners and pretty much everything in between.

| The Baptist Student Union (Campus ministry of baptist churches) uses a logo called the inward and outward journey that is a similar concept. BSU is also on many campuses under the name Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) Found this page on it, with a description of the symbology http://orgs.unca.edu/bsu/bsu_symbol.htm |

| Those are good. The more ideas the better. Here's an idea I've been playing with.

| Thanks to everyone who has/is giving thought to this. I realize this is a common Mission Statement. But in my searching, I have not found a church who uses this with a decent logo. If need be we could probably hire it out but thought I'd see what ideas you guys came up with first. I really appreciate your input. |

| I realize the second one is busy. I was just stoked that I figured out how to do it, I thought I'd post it anyway. ![]() Hand icons are an interesting idea. Steve was thinking about hand/arm pictures. But I couldn't come up with a way of making them simple enough for a logo. May have to work on that one.

| Here's another variation.

| Does anybody have a feel for what would be the advantages of paying to have this designed professionally rather than sponging off the talents of my brother (whom I lured into this by dangling a "project" in front of his eyes)? If we can come up with something we are happy with, should we just go with it? I'm really liking the clean simple look of the circle arrows as well. The more I look at it the more I like it. I think it would endure better than the hand symbols, which might date themselves more quickly (though I am still willing to look at that as well). Am wondering, too, about incorporating a simple cross so that people automatically know what we are identifying with. Do you think that will clutter our simple design? |

| 1) You wouldn't have to wait for me to have time to work on stuff. 2) They can micro tune the design, possibly enhancing it. 3) They (hopefully) would be more experienced in laying out appealing business cards and letter head and such, although I'd be willing to give it a shot. Others can expand on this list. Please don't worry about hurting my amateur feelings. ![]() As for the cross, I think it would clutter. We've got a fairly clean design going. We could possibly put one in a gray scale behind the up arrow, starting below and ending above the "reaching". I would hope the up would be self defining or give you a reason to explain. ![]() Milton got carried away (see attached), and insisted it not only have a cross (t mondifies), but a star and "burst" to symbolize the birth, death and resurrection. I think it is possible to put too much in a logo... ![]()
